みず‐あげ〔みづ‐〕【水揚げ】

［名］(スル)
１船の荷物を陸に移すこと。「荒天で—が遅れる」
２漁業の収穫。漁獲高。
３商売などの売り上げや稼ぎ高。「値上げ以来—が目減りする」
４生け花で、花材がよく水を吸うようにすること。水切りのほか、根元をつぶしたり、熱湯につけたり、火で焼いたりすることが多い。養花。→深水(ふかみず)→湯揚げ
５遊女・芸妓などが初めて客と接すること。
