ねる【寝る／×寐る】

１眠りにつく。寝床に入る。睡眠をとる。眠る。「ぐっすりねた」「ねる間も惜しんで働く」
２病気で床につく。寝込む。「風邪で二、三日ねていた」
３からだを横たえる。また、そのような状態で休む。「ねながら本を読む」「大の字にねる」
４本来立っているもの、縦のものが横になる。「髪の毛がねる」「活字がねている」
５共寝をする。同衾(どうきん)する。
６商品が売れずに残っている。また、資金が動かない状態にある。「暖冬で冬物がねている」
７味噌や酒などが仕込まれた状態である。また、麹(こうじ)が熟成する。「醤油(しょうゆ)ねさせてしばし月見る／猿雖」〈猿蓑〉→眠る［用法］
