いっぽう：－ぱう［3］【一方】
①一つの方向。「－通行」
②一つの方面。ある方面。「－から考えると気の毒でもある」「－の雄」
③いくつかのもの（多くは二つ）のうちの一つ。片方。「－の手」「－の出口はふさいである」
④名詞、形容動詞の語幹、動詞の下に付いて接尾語的に用い、もっぱらその傾向にあること、一つの方向・方面にかたよっていることの意を表す。「まじめ－」「仕事－」「水かさは増す－だ」「成績はよくなる－だ」
⑤接続助詞的に用いて、あることと並行して別のことが行われること。…しつつ他方では。「仕事に励む－、遊びにも精を出す」
⑥接続詞的に用いて、もう一つの側では。他方。「Aさんの話ではこうだ。－、Bさんはこう言っている」

《一》［名］
１「一人(ひとり)」を敬っていう語。「もうお—お乗りになれます」
２いっぽうの人。片方。

《二》［形動］［文］［ナリ］
１程度が普通であるさま。一とおり。多くあとに、打消しの表現を伴う。「悲しみようは—ではない」
２一つの方向にかたよるさま。一方的。
「—に思ひとりにし心にはなほそむかるる身をいかにせむ」〈新古今・雑下〉
[補説]人数を表す場合は「お」を付けて使う。また、この言い方ができるのは「お一方」「お二方」「お三方」のみで、四人 以上には使わない。

2〔立場の違う二者の片方〕one party；〔相手方〕the other party
・この件では一方を加害者，一方を被害者とは必ずしも言えない
In this case we cannot necessarily say that one party is the assailant and the other the victim.
